Climate and Affordable Housing

Bringing together climate equity, residential retrofits and affordable housing to address issues with multiple benefits.

Retrofits to Ottawa’s ageing stock of affordable housing can reduce emissions while preserving the buildings and protecting tenants from evictions.

OCAF is working with partners to retrofit affordable housing, improve the comfort and quality of current homes, and create opportunities for new low carbon, affordable units

Funding Opportunity

OCAF is looking to support an organization interested in conducting an inventory of Ottawa’s multi-unit residential buildings and the GHG reduction potential associated with retrofits.

Workshop participant imagining how buildings in their neighbourhood could work better for their daily life and resilience.

Planning an Ottawa for All

Tackling Emissions and Inequity

We’re proud to support Ecology Ottawa & CAWI’s Climate Equity initiative, which equips residents, especially those traditionally underrepresented in planning and climate conversations, with the knowledge and tools to engage in local planning and climate discussions. Through workshops and community dialogue, participants build skills to advocate for more climate-resilient, equitable neighbourhoods.

Ottawa ACORN’s Retrofits for Renters

OCAF is supporting Ottawa ACORN to meaningfully bring Ottawa low- and moderate-income renters into the climate and retrofit conversation
