The City of Ottawa has applied for $692M in provincial infrastructure funding, offering a 54% cut to development charges in return. If approved, the majority would fund housing growth outside the Greenbelt – raising questions about how well the plan aligns with the City’s intensification goals.

The City of Ottawa approved a plan to deliver new housing, with Mayor Sutcliffe calling it a step toward making the city the most « housing-friendly » in Canada. 

OCAF welcomes this ambition and supports measures that focus on affordable housing and enabling « gentle density ».
