Building Collaborative Capacity Among Social Inclusion and Climate Change Leaders in Ottawa
Achieving Canada’s and Ottawa’s goal of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 requires creating tangible, compelling and relevant climate solutions for all demographics. The Ottawa Climate Equity Initiative seeks to enhance collaborative capacity among organizations and leaders in climate change and social inclusion to accelerate equitable and effective climate action in Ottawa through:
- Building understanding of shared values and priorities among leaders in climate action and social inclusion.
- Fostering trust-based partnerships to increase collaboration on projects, campaigns and fundraising.
- Co-creating communications messaging with distribution to diverse audiences to advance equitable, low-carbon solutions and motivate environmentally conscious behaviour.
- Equipping local actors with the skills for effective community mobilizing on climate equity.
The initiative includes leaders from 6 climate groups and 7 social inclusion groups:

The Ottawa Climate Equity Initiative is a program of the Ottawa Community Foundation, funded in part by Environment and Climate Change Canada. It is led by the Ottawa Climate Action Fund and jointly managed with Ecology Ottawa.
